We are excited to announce another great team bonding opportunity for all groups! CSSC will be heading to the bowling ally for a night of fun! This event will take place Saturday January 6th from 4-6 pm. 2 hours of bowling, shoes, 2 slices of pizza, soda, and more all for just $21! We are hoping for a great turn out so please mark your calendars and join us at Sawgrass lanes located at 8501 N University Dr, Tamarac, FL 33321. See the attached flyer for all the information!

Speedo Winter Championships Final Results

After an action-packed 4 days, the 2017 Annual Speedo Championships have come to an end. Coral Springs Swim Club members performed not only well, they also showed tenacity, grit and sportsmanship. Our swimmers have been working hard with our Coaches in preparation for the Championships and  it is exciting to see how their hard work during practice materializes into impressive swims during competition.

 

The final team results are as follows. CSSC placed 14th out of the 47 teams competing in the championships with a total of 300 points. The top teams were Pine Crest  in 1st place with 1317.5 points, followed by Azura Florida Aquatics in 2nd with 1165 points and Saint Andrew’s in 3rd with 923.5 points. Our Womens team earned 206 points and were ranked 9th while our Mens team earned 94 points and were ranked 19th.

 

Many of our swimmers achieved Junior Olympic qualifying times at the Championships including 14-year-old Sarah Schimansky and 12-year-old Kaitlyn Bonasera in their 1650 Free (18:40.14 and 20:12.43 respectively), 14-year-old Olivia Mason in her 50 Fly (29.46), 14-year-old Grant Aran in his 50 Fly (25.74), 200 Back (2:08.03) and his 50 Back (27.86), 11-year-old Nicole Creed in her 50 Back (32.16), 13-year-old Brianna Datile in her 50 Breast (34.77), 12-year-old Elizabeth Olson in her 100 Fly (1:12.38), 12-year-old Payton Ward in her 200 Breast (2:52.67) and  100 Free (1:01.20), 10-year-olds Sammy Schoenborn and Carolyn Powell in their 200 Free (2:29.71 and 2:30.21 respectively) Powell also qualified with her 2nd place finish in her 50 Back at 33.78, and 14-year-old Jason Bonasera in his 200 Breast (2:30.71) and his 100 Free (53.66)

 

14-year-old Brian Gonzalez qualified for the Spring Sectionals in his 1650 Free (17:14.53), as did 16-year-old Chloe Carignan in her 50 Free (28.67), 16-year-old Andres McKeon and 14-year-old Darion Louis-Jeune in their 50 Fly (25.88 and 28.06 respectively),

 

13-year-olds Giulianna Garcia and Riley McCormick both qualified for Summer Sectionals in their 50 Fly with respective times of 27.62 and 28.53 as did 18-year-old Megan Schimansky with her 1st place finish in her 50 Fly at 28.49, 13-year-old Micaela Sierra with her 6th place finish in her 50 Breast (31.88), 14-year-old Faith Fowler in her 50 Back (30.37)

 

David Blanco (16), Connor Marks (15), Guillermo Barrios (15), Sam McCormick (15),  Patrick Franzino, Gregory Trimble (16), and Sofia Barrios (14) all qualified for the Winter Sectionals in their 50 Fly with respective times of 25.61,26.22, 26.24, 26.30, 27.00, 27.27 and 29.78. Ryan Brander (13) qualified in his 50 Breast at 32.85 while 10-year-olds Mariana Montes and Isabella Perez qualified in their 200 Free with respective times of 2:36.11 and 2:39.53.

 

The Championships are over but with these qualifying times, CSSC can look forward to more exciting events as 2017 comes to an end.

Speedo Championships Day 3

The third day of the 27th Annual Speedo Winter Championships were sunny and bright with outstanding swims and thrilling heats.

 

After the third day of competition, CSSC has secured their 13th place position with 180 points and 3 points ahead of Warwick Academy in 15th place, The top 3 ranked teams are Pine Crest  in 1st place with 871. 50 points, followed by Azura in 2nd with 827 points and Saint Andrew’s in 3rd with 630.5 points.

 

Our Womens team is currently ranked 10th with 118 points while our Mens team stands at 17th with 62 points.

 

Saturday’s stand out events include 10-year-old Carolyn Powell’s 2nd place victory in her 50 Back with an impressive time of 33.78 and 13-year-old Giulianna Garcia’s 3rd place finish in her 100 Fly at 59.81. Powell also placed 9th in her 100 Free at 1:07.65 while Garcia placed 7th in her grueling 400 IM, finishing in 4:46.71.

 

Gregory Trimble (16) Brain Gonzalez (14), Jason Bonasera (17) also swam the 400 IM. Trimble placed 8th at 4:35.06, Gonzalez  finished in 10th place at 4:37.89, and Bonasera came in 17th at 4:47.17.  

 

Saturday’s events included more thrilling relays. Our Womens 13-14  team swam their 400 Medley in 4:13.71 and came in 4th place while our Mens 13-14 finished at 4:00.64 and in 8th place.  Our Mens team also finished in 8th at 3:49.64.

 

11-year-old Nicole Creed swam her 100 Back in an impressive 1:08.81 placing her in 8th while ten-year-old Connor Marks completed his at 57.38 placing him in 10th. Megan Schimansky (18) finished 8th in her 100 Back at 1:03.62.

 

Sunday’s weather remains sunny and is an ideal setting for the final day of the Speedo Championships. We are excited to see CSSC swimmers and families coming out to both compete and support our swimmers at the event. The hard work and dedication from both our Coaches and swimmers is coming to fruition this weekend.
